In a device for the carbonation or aeration of water a cylindrical element, made of porous material, is arranged at right angles to the water inlet and outlet. An annular channel is formed along the outside of the element in which the water flows upwards; it flows downwards in the bore of the central piece and joins the outlet. The gas is admitted through bores to an annulus along the inside of the element. The porous element made of sintered CrNi steel or gauze, is built into a housing, leaving an annular gap for the incoming water. The water passes through a central bore in the centre piece. Gas, admitted through an inlet reaches an inside annulus and passes through the element pores into the water. This is a simple design and is ideally suitable for smaller installations. The element can be exchanged or cleaned in a min. of time without having to take out the whole device. It provides for more intimate mixing of gas and water.
|
