<p>The bearing for a heavy motor has a downwardly removable bearing cap (7) supported for the purpose of removal by a hydraulic jack. The jack is a permanent installation and includes a duct (14) for supply of lubricating oil to the bearing. The duct may form part of the hydraulic system of the jack. The jack may comprise a double acting piston (1) connected to the bearing cap and situated in a cylinder (3) connected to the lubricant supply line (4). In use the cylinder is connected to respective pressure and return ducts (5, 6) for operation of the piston while the oil inlet into the cap is closed by a valve (15).</p> |
