Articles comprise lower part and an upper part; the parts being provided wth closed tow portiona dn finished simple seam. Loops on the upper and lower portions, which are opposite each other, are interconnected by interlocking loops which extend on the left hand side along the finishing seam. Pref. the upper part is finished first, starting with the simple seam and transferring all the loops of the last row to the needles of the circular knitting machine and locating them in an inoperative position. The lower part is then knitted using the same needles and starting with the closed toe portion. Finally when the last row on the portion has been completed, the rows of loops are aligned and interconnected by the interlocking loops.
