Rotor for DC motor with loop windings - has winding loops held in holes in flat rotor solely by outer edge

The rotor is for a constant-torque DC motor and may be used for small motors. It has flat loop windings spaced around it and connected to a commutator. The stator is permanently magnetic. The rotor windings (18,19,21) are fixed to the inside walls of their holes (32) in the rotor only by their radially outermost surface. The shaft (17) passes axially through the rotor disc and has the commutator (26) fixed to one end. The winding ends are connected to the commutator segments. The body of the flat rotor is made of synthetic resin. The advantage of the arrangement lies in reducing material and labour costs and in improving cooling.
