To maintain the surface of a disc on a record player free from dust, etc. an auxiliary disc of flexible material is laid on top and has a central locating hole (3) for the spindle (5). In addition there is an elongated slot to enable the pick-up arm to travel along a radius. The disc may be additionally provided with a peripheral array of markings (6) suitable for speed determination using a stroboscope. The auxiliary disc is of similar dia. to the record and is made of flexible material with its lower face equipped with a soft cleaning substance to collect dust particles from the record grooves whilst playing is in progress.
