The vehicles are powered by two motors connected in series to a current source with a diode between them. They can be switched in parallel by two contactors bridging each motor and the diode. Coils of the contactors are connected during starting through a stepping switch simultaneously to an auxiliary voltage source, in order to connect the motors in parallel. A switch (16, 17) is inserted in each connection (14, 15) between the stepping switch (9) and contactor coils (7, 8). It is displaced by the steering device after a specified preliminary run in the sense of rotation allocated to the respective switch. When triggered, one of the coils (7, 8) is separated from the stepping switch (9), and the other coil (8, 7) is directly connected to the auxiliary voltage (10, 11), so that the motor on the curve inside is switched off, and the motor on the curve outside is switched on.
