The steam or gas turbine has a separate stage (13, 11) for reverse running. The turbine, particularly single-stage turbine with single-ended rotor (3) shaft support, may have a multiple velocity stage, and the separate reversing stage consists of a rotor blade assembly (11) on the rotor (3) and associated nozzle (13) with radially outward flow. The separate stage (13, 11) may be arranged on the outlet side of the turbine housing whilst the medium is fed to the nozzle (13) from a central chamber (16) on the rotor centre line via radial ducts (15). The chamber (16) may be connected to a supply tube (21) extending throug the outlet steam space (25).
