1494771 Mono-octyl tin mercaptides CIBAGEIGY AG 15 Jan 1975 [17 Jan 1974] 1673/75 Heading C2J [Also in Division C3] Compounds of general formula where R1 is a C 12-16 alkyl radical are prepared by (i) reacting the corresponding octyl stannonic acid or monooctyl-tin oxide with the appropriate mercapto acetic acid este or by (ii) reacting the corresponding octyl-tin trichloride with the appropriate mercaptoacetic acid ester in the presence of an HCl acceptor. The compounds are useful as stabilizers for vinyl chloride polymers.
