The tamping bar is suitable for rock blasting and has an outer tube made of nylon, internally threaded at both ends for a cap and a bush. This houses a rod made at lead which fills the space completely between the inside faces of the cap and bush. The materials chosen are thus intended to avoid all danger of producing sparks. The bush has a hole of a suitable diameter for a cord retained by knotting its end. The inside face of the bush is rounded to hold the knot which then rests on top of the rod. The outside of the bush has two flats for a spanner.
