The plant is for removing excess paint from articles, typically gratings (30) and has an overhead conveyor (16) with a beam acting as a guide for the conveying chains. This carries the gratings through a tunnel which acts as a refrigeration tunnel, being subjected to the fumes from a bath (20) of liquid nitrogen. When the gratings arrive at a point above the bath, they are lowered into bath for an increased refrigeration to a very low temp. A portion of the beam separates from the remainder so that it can be lowered with a grating suspended from it. It is then raised and the grating conveyed onwards to pass between doors to enter a chamber between shot blasting turbines (2). In their refrigerated condition, the excess paint is more easily removed by the shot blasting turbines (2).
