1531945 Derivatives of polyalkenyl succinic anhydride TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 24 May 1977 [7 June 1976] 21757/77 Heading C3P [Also in Divisions C2 and C5] An additive for fuel and lubricating compositions is obtained by reacting a C 250-3000 alkenyl-succinic acid or anhydride with an amine in the presence of a free radical initiator, e.g. azobisisobutyronitrile, benzoyl peroxide or t-butyl perbenzoate. Part of the amine reacts with the double bond in the alkenyl group, the remainder reacting with the acid or anhydride group. The amine may be a mono- or polyamine and may be substituted, many being exemplified. The alkenyl group is usually polypropenyl or polyisobutenyl, and in examples ranges in M.W. from 335 to 2300. |
