The auditory correction process amplifies sounds with frequencies in a main band composed of the fundamental frequencies of human speech and the five following octaves, these sounds being then delivered to the deaf person. This correction is also made for frequency bands outside the main one. The overall frequency band for which correction is made can include frequencies outside the main one, above 20 kHz and/or below 200 Hz, down to 20 Hz. For these external frequencies at least, the gain of the amplification can be higher than the value representing the difference between the acuteness of the deaf person for these frequencies and the zero reference value.
|
