The central heating radiator is fitted with a valve designed to simplify the fittings required when used with other radiators in a circuit. A cylindrical valve member (9) is screwed towards and away from a seating (12) in the cylindrical body (11). The body is also externally threaded to fit into a plug (21) in the end of the bottom or top collector tube (2) so that almost the whole of the body is housed inside the tube. The inner end screws onto a distance piece (17) welded to a dividing plate (13) which isolates the entry hole (19) from all the vertical heating tubes (4) except the first (3) when the valve is shut. Thus with the valve shut, hot water passes only through the first tube (3) to the next radiator in the circuit. Opening the valve allows all the heating tubes to be used.
