<p>Device for cooling the guide and support rolls together with the cast slab, in continuous casting plant, where nozzles for spraying coolant are located in the guide and support track. The nozzles are located above and below the cast slab, and between adjacent rolls; the nozzle outlets are situated at the middle of the axial length of the rolls and direct the coolant towards both edges of the slab and towards both ends of each guide and support roll. For use in the casting of wide slabs, where the rolls are assembled from several sections, using bearings located between the sections and at several locations along the length of the roll, to prevent bulges on the slab surface due to the ferrostatic pressure. The middle sections of the rolls, and their bearings, are adequately cooled, so that bearing seizure is avoided; the improved cooling also prevents fissures occurring in the surface of the slab.</p> |
