<p>A safety belt installation for cars has all the attachment points of the safety belt on the same side of the seat as the door, so that the seat belt can be released as soon as the door opens. Two belt portions are fixed to the bodywork at only two points, one low and one high, and near the door. After passing in front of the body, instead of being buckled to the car floor between the two seats, the two belt portions continue as the seat-cushion so that the wt. of the occupant maintains them in place. The body is held against the back-rest by the upper belt portion and on the seat cushion by the lower belt portion. The seat-cushion is freely received in a frame fixed to the car, so that tilting towards the door disengages the seat-cushion from the frame so releasing the seat occupant.</p> |
