<p>The vacuum cleaner suction inlet has a demountable and replaceable bristled pad (8) which may serve to collect hairs from e.g. carpets. The pad (8) bristles are specifically orientated and the pad mounting ensures that the pad can only be installed with the bristles correctly orientated. The inlet comprises a sole plate (1) with say an elongated rectangular suction opening (2) and an elongated socket (3) locating the bristled pad (8). The opening (2) and the socket (3) are adjacent and parallel with their long edges normal to the direction of cleaner travel. The socket is symmetrical relative to its transverse axis but assymetric relative to its long axis (6) thus, ensuring that the pad (8), of similar form, can only be installed one way. The pad may be of laminar form with offset terminal tongues (8a, 8b) engaging cavities (3a, 3b) in the socket (3) end walls.</p> |
