Appts. receives the waste water in an aerated buffer tank after pre-treatment in a mechanically-cleaned decantation tank. From the buffer tank, liq. is passed to an oxidation vessel where it is discharged into contact with an aeration unit; the oxidation vessel delivers to a final clarification tank from which sludge is recycled.The aerated buffer tank reduces the biological loading pref. by 10 - 15%.- Between buffer tank and oxidation vessel process utilises a high efficiency aeration tank. The tank contains an aerator located close to fine jet outlets of the supply from the buffer tank and of the sludge return from the clarification tank.- All aerators are pref. fitted with rotary agitators. The high efficiency aeration tank may be a cell submerged in the oxidation vessel
