摘要 <p>Cast iron mould for making glass workpieces contains (by wt.) 2.8-4.0% C; 1.5-3.0% Si; 0.1-0.6% Mn; 1.0-3.0% Al; 0.5-2.5% Cr; together with 0.2-2.0% Cu; 0.05-0.04% Mg; 0.01-0.04% Ca, is not >0.08% S, and is not >0.10% P, the balance being Fe. The compsn. gives good resistance to oxidn. at elevated temps. and the mould also has high resistance to wear. The mould is also relatively easy to machine. Typically in making the mould pig-iron, steel scrap, and the necessary ferro-alloys are induction melted, then superheated before a Cu-Mg master alloy is introduced followed by Ca silicide and the prod. then cast.</p>
