Control system for adjustable headlamps - has fine setting control and suspension movement monitor for dashboard mounted indicator

The relative setting of the sprung and unsprung parts of the vehicle are monitored by a non contact servo e.g. a proximity control or an opto-electric sensor (1) which controls the setting of an indicator (3) linked to a dashboard control through which the driver can adjust the headlamp setting w.r.t. axle loading. The setting control has a continuous adjustment, or a large number of small incremental steps (5) so that an accurate headlamp setting can be generated. The proximity sensor can be replaced by an optical monitor which fibre optics are illuminated with a coloured scale, with the colours indicating the degree of loading.
