Stretching and/or texturising synthetic yarns - by training them over a rotary element to impart transient twist and stretching following relaxation of twist

Synthetic monofil or multifil yarns are stretched and/or texturised by passing them in the form of a loop over an element, a transient rotary movement being imparted to the yarns prior to stretching which is carried out at the pt. of resolution of the rotary movement. The device which imparts the transient rotary movement to the yarns is pref. the element which is rotated. The element is pref. preceded by a heating chamber having a pair of feed rollers over which the yarns are trained several times and the element is followed by a cooling chamber which has a similar arrangement of rollers. The rotary element may be provided with a required number of sharp edges. Stretching takes place along a much shorter length of the yarns whereby a better orientation of molecules in the stretched yarns can be achieved.
