<p>The thermo-electric generator comprises temperature dependent permanent magnets whose flux paths are linked with coil windings. The magnets are thermally cycled above and below the Curie point, and the resultant flux changes generate an emf in the coils which can be made to do useful work. The permanent magnets are made from compounds which exhibit a Curie point below 100 deg.C. The waste heat from thermal power stations or similar apparatus can therefore be tapped to provide further useful energy. As a side effect less of the waste heat has to be absorbed by the environment.</p> |
