摘要 <p>Display picture screen illumination is controlled by the use of a matrix fof switching cells which are situated at the nodal points and modulated by variation of electrode plate potentials. A typical arrangement comprises a number of regions, successively designated as cathode (1), selection (2), fraction (3), amplification (4) and anode (5). The selection electrodes have plates transverse to the longitudinal direction of the main cathode/anode flow so that deflections along both the x and y co-ordinate axes may be obtained, the fraction field effectively providing an acceleration along the z axis. The amplification section enables the concentrated arrangement in the electrode area to be expanded to fill the screen, and may use an electron multiplier.</p>
