Combined productiong of fine-particle coke and fuel gas of high calorific value inf luidised bed or gas stream reactors, by direct addn. of solid fuel to a fuel gas at 850 degrees C min. (pref. 1100-1600 degrees C), produced by a gasificn. process. The solid fuel is decomposed by heating to an average temp. of 500-850 degrees C, into a coking gas which mixes with the carrier gas, and fine coke which is separated from the gas stream. The gas obtained is of high calorific value (around 6000 kcal/Nm3) compared with that from processes using other carrier gases or partial combustion of the solid fuel as the heat source (500-1500 kcal/Nm3) and can be used as fuel gas without expensive pre-treatment. Operating conditions can be adjusted to meet varying gas demands with constant output of coke. |
