Regeneration of catalyst for cleaning waste gases - by removing ammonium sulphate deposit using water

A catalyst composed of activated C impregnated with ammonium bromide and/or ammonium iodide and made inactive by deposition of ammonium sulphate when used for the removal of oxides of S and N in waste gases, is regenerated by washing with water to remove the ammonium sulphate by dissolution. The catalyst is used for removing S and N oxides from the waste gases of boilers in power stations, the N oxides being reduced to N and S oxides to ammonium sulphate. Regeneration is simple and very economical.
