In the manufacture of low cost ball bearings, the bearing inner and outer rings are cut from tubes and the edges of the rings are spun over to form rims of circular sections. On the outer bearing ring (1), the rims (2) point radially inward. On the inner bearing rings (4), the rims point radially outward. The balls (3) run on the rim of the rings. To make it possible to remove play between balls and rims, the inner ring is made from two parts (4, 6). The bore of one ring section (6) slides over the outside diameter of the other ring section (4). This makes it possible to remove the play in the ball bearing by pushing the sections together, before joining the two ring sections together.
