1494285 Vinyl halide resin/activated azodicarbonamide compositions TENNECO CHEMICALS Inc 24 July 1975 [28 Aug 1974] 31048/75 Heading C3C Cellular vinyl halide resins are made from compositions comprising (a) a vinyl halide resin plastisol; (b) 1-10% by wt., based on the resin, of azodicarbonamide and (c) 1-5% by wt., based on the resin, of an activator mixture containing (1) a zinc salt of a C 6-24 monocarboxylic acid, phenol or an alkylphenol and (2) 0À1-10 parts by wt., per part of zinc salt, of a strontium salt of a C 6-24 monocarboxylic acid, phenol or an alkylphenol. The cellular resins are made by heating the above mixture to 140‹-210‹ C. to fuse the resin and decompose the azodicarbonamide. In the examples mixtures of polyvinylchloride, 2,2,4-trimethyl-1,3-pentane diol isobutyrate benzoate, TiO 2 dioctyl phthalate and/ or butyl benzyl phthalate were made into plastisols with azodicarbonamide and activator mixtures consisting of zinc 2-ethyl-hexoate and strontium 2-ethylhexoate, formed into films, gelled by heating and then expanded by heating.
