The rectangular support is for an ornamental pattern, particularly a square tile, so that when a number of such tiles are placed together there is no break in the pattern where they join. The pattern of each tile is built up from one or more theoretical basic squares, which in their turn are built up from four theoretical subsidiary squares. Each subsidiary square is formed by an area running between two diagonally opposite corners, and of a first pattern, and two remaining corner areas of a second pattern. The diagonal area and the two corner areas meet at the centre of each side, and all subsidiary squares join at corners of the same pattern. One of them at least can have a diagonal area to the second pattern and corner areas to the first one.
|
