<p>The brake consists of two parts one being connected rigidly to the chassis of the vehicle and the other suspended from a sliding rod which passes through a guide bore in both pieces. Each part carries a piston (10), furnished with a brake pad, which moves in a bore provided. Each piston has an annular elastic ring which suppresses play in the bores. The brake is operated by a lever (8), pivoted about an axis and attached to a sleeve (7) placed over the end of the sliding rod. The lever directly operates one piston by force on a spur of the piston whilst the other is operated via the sliding rod.</p> |
