The playback unit for flexible video recording discs has the playback head moved parallel to the radius of the discs, during rotation of the latter. The playback head is contained within an air-tight casing, with an opening in the centre of its flat base for the playback head. The casing is connected to an air pump providing a higher pressure in the casing the base of which forms a stabilisation surface for the flexible disc due to the Bernoulli forces set up by the air flow through the opening in the base.
