<p>An electrooptical device for light modulation includes a light control element with an electrooptical layer consisting of finely dispersed particles which form dipoles and are suspended in a transparent matrix so that they can be aligned by an electric field. This matrix is an elastomer, such as silicone rubber, with a modulus of elasticity 70-7000 dyn/cm2. This combines low costs of mfr. with high mechanical robustness of the light control elements. The latter are chemically stable and not sensitive to temp. fluctuations.</p> |
