The unit has a combustion chamber (1) with a burner (6) and a combustion air fan (5). Flue gases travel through a horizontal pipe which forms the internal section of a double walled longitudinal cylindrical heat exchanger (7). They are discharged at the end of this through a chimney piece (9). The whole assembly is suspended at high level from the roof (3) of an industrial building. The supports have vertical rods (4) from the roof which carry flat bars (10) below the heat exchanger. Carriages welded to the internal pipe and projecting through the outer pipe have rollers which support the pipe on the bars and can roll across them.
