<p>A cellular material is prepd. from a 1-4:1, pref. 1.5:1 mixt. of a phenolic resin (resol) with 70-99 pref. 75-85 wt.% dry extract, and a urea-formol resin of 70-78, pref. 74-77 wt.% dry extract obtd. by concn. under vacuum of commercial liq. solutions. The mixt. also contains a mineral filler in amt. =the amt. of phenolic resin, 0.1-10 pts. wt. (per 100 pts.wt. resin mixt.)mineral salt giving off a gas under the action of 5-40 wt.% (wrt resin mixt.) acid catalyst soln. The cellular material has lower density, higher resistance to compression, and lower prodn. cost than a cellular prod. based on phenolic resin alone and contg. the same mineral filler.</p> |
