Water treatment unit is claimed with a single inlet for supplied water and separate outlet connections for three grades of water treated appropriately for drinking, culinary use and washing/sanitary purposes. The water supply is passed through a common, 10 mu m, filter which has twin outlets. One of these outlets is the supply for the two consumable grades i.e. culinary and drinking and the other for washing water. The consumable grade is directed through an activated carbon filter which delivers the first prod. drinking water. A branch from the activated carbon filter outlet directs water through an ion exchange softener which delivers the second prod., water for culinary use. The second outlet from the common, 10 mu m, filter directs water through a second, ion exchange softener which delivers the third prod., washing/sanitary water. This second softener is in parallel with an adjustable flow, balancing bypass. The two softeners pref. have a common, automatic, regenerating system for their ion exchange resins. The com plete treatment unit is pref. enclosed in a single, plastic casing shaped and sized for convenient installation in domestic kitchens etc. Used for treating water in domestic commercial and industrial situation. Partic. for treating domestic mains water to produce three grades: (1) filtered and purified but not demineralised, water for drinking; (2) filtered, purified and softened water for cooking; and (3) filtered and softened water for clothes washing and dishwashing machines, personal hygiene and sanitary purposes etc. Incoming water is treated automatically in a small packaged unit which delivers grades specially suited to different requirements. |
