The system continuously produces documents in sets without carbons having 1 or more surfaces coated with encapsulated chromogenic material and/or an encapsulated colour-forming material. A series of strips is fed forward together at the same speed and spaced apart, one or more of them being marked with a pattern. A non-aqueous coating, with no solvent, of the chromogenic or colour-forming material is applied to part at least of one or more of the strips, and allowed to harden. the strips are then assembled together so as to form sets of documents, and they can be from two to six in number, the marking being carried out by printing, using the off-set system.
