<p>Steel rod intended for reinforcing concrete beams (1) is fed through a pair of reversible rolls (R) into a chuck (P). The chuck is 'L' shaped, one leg consists of a tapered entry groove with a radiused exit. The other leg consists of a shaft connected to a mechanism which allows the chuck to be withdrawn from the rod. Behind the chuck and mounted coaxially with the second leg is a rotating bar. The machine is programmed so that during bending by the rotating bar, the grooved chuck holds the rod. The rod is advanced for the next bend during which time the chuck is withdrawn.</p> |
