<p>Furnace carbon blacks are made by complete combustion of fuel in mixts. of oxygen and superheated steam with vol. ratio 1:1.5-10 and introduction of a hydrocarbon raw material into the hot combustion gas stream, with subsequent cooling and sepn. of the product. Used in reinforcement of rubbers, plastics, etc. Temp of the combustion gas stream is reduced by presence of steam, preventing reaction of the carbon formed with CO2, H2O, etc. and giving better control of the process. Yield of black and its physical-chemical properties are improved. Lower temps. in the combustion chamber eliminate the need for water-cooling of the walls.</p> |
