<p>Spiral jet mill has >=1 cylindrical milling chamber into the periphery of which a compressed gas is injected. The feed enters with the aid of a further gas jet. Before this injectin gas jet for the material, the inlet channel contains a number deflections which form sound reflection surfaces. The milling chamber itself consists of >=2 ring shaped bodies located inside an outer housing. This contains nozzles which injects the compressed gas into the chamber where it expands. These jet rings can have different dia and the chamber cross section can reduce downwards. For use in the attrition of materials to powder in the range 0.5 to 10 mu m esp. pharmaceuticals such as antibiotics, preservatives or dry lubricants. The problem with existing jet mills is their excessive noise and relative space requirement. The invention described overcomes this problem.</p> |
