The gas or steam turbine design uses the same size parts for a variety of stage press. drops and is partic. suitable for small, single-press.-stage turbines. In such a design with a design flow/velocity ratios u/co=u1/co1 for the first or determinant stage, blading dimensions and arrangement for up to 3 rows of velocity-compounded blades need not be changed just because of a change in the design press. drop. What is required is to change the aperture ratio and flaring of the inlet nozzles, to produce the appropriate reaction. Similarly, the same blades can be used with flow/velocity ratios (u/co) varying by up to plus-or-minus 20% from the design figure. For variations in output, blade width only need be changed.
|
