The reversing gear for the drive mechanism of a forage harvester, consists of a switch lever on which is pivot mounted a carrier acting indirectly on the control shaft for operating the switch coupling. The switch lever is connected to a drag lever on the control shaft by means of a carrier in the form of a feed pawl. The drag lever has two recesses on its outer curved edge, in which fits the feed pawl when the switch lever is moved the length of the control path by means of spring tension. The feed pawl is pivot mounted on the switch lever on an axle positioned crosswise to the control shaft.
