<p>The plant comprises an aeration tank follower by a decantation vessel from which settled sludge is recycled to the aeration tank. The aeration tank is an annular channel fitted coaxially around a vertical cylindrical decantation vessel. A rotary bridge extends radially from, and pivots around, the axis of the decantation vessel, spanning the annular channel to carry an aerator which it moves around the channel. The sludge recycling pump is fixed to the bridge with its suction immersed in the decantation vessel and its delivery directed into the annular channel, pref. alongside the aerator. The decantation vessel and annular channel are pref. made as a single structure with a common dividing wall. The discharge line from the sludge pump is pref. piped to deliver excess sludge outside the annular channel when not required for recycling. Compactness of installation combined with inexpensive construction for a given treatment capacity is provided.</p> |
