Machines for removing the sheathing from lead-sheathed cables, known as stripping machines, contain at least two adjustable blades through which the cable to be stripped is drawn. Since conductor cross-section and sheath thickness may deviate from their ideal values over the length of the cable and damage to the conductor is to be prevented, the spacing of the blades from one another must be adapted at least to the largest possible conductor cross-section. To avoid the resulting disadvantage that the cable sheath (19) is incompletely separated in areas with smaller conductor cross-sections, the blades (5) according to the invention are movably mounted in a guide (8) attached to the machine, perpendicular to the running direction of the cable (19, 21) and against the force of a spring (14). <IMAGE>
