<p>A catalyst is prepd. by (a) forming in an aq. medium, a gelatinous ppte of an inorganic oxide (precursor), and a finely divided organometallic cpd. of the transition series, prepd. by reacting a soln. of a transition metal cpd. with an organic gravimetric preapitating agnet, (b) mixing the gelatinous ppte and the organometallic cpd. withih 2 (is not >1) hours of the formation of the gelatinous ppte., to give a catalyst precursor, and (c) conv erting the precursor to a catalyst by at least heating the precursor at 500-1800 degrees F for 1-48 hours. The catalyst is used in hydro-conversions esp. hydro-cracking. The catalytic metal is more uniformly dispersed on the surface of the porous oxide support. The catalyst has longer life.</p> |
