The jig is for stripping taped cable cores of their tearproof sheating and comprises a cutting tool and a tension-proof string or thread that runs along the cable beneath the sheating of the latter. The thread is drawn on to a winding mechanism that simultaneously moves along, and rotates around, the cable, this mechanism being connected to the cutting tool that grips on to the thread directly under the sheating. More specif. a cable tracer (wire is utilised as the tension-proof string or thread, and the cutting tool used is specif. a heated knife. The jig is suitable for removing the plastics sheating used for coating cables, wire etc.
