The indicator lamps (19) for the automatic transmission and other systems are provided with a dimming control operating when the vehicle lights are switched on. This comprises two similar bulbs (7, 8) connected as a voltage divider, and with the indicators linked to the centre tapping by the light switch. The dimming bulbs are encapsulated in the indicator bulb strip, and are in light proof compartments. They are considerably cheaper than comparable high current dropping resistors, and can be replaced when burnt out. |
