A cosmetic composition for topical application to human skin contains niacinamide, or a precursor thereof, for lightening the skin, together with an ultra-violet absorbing sunscreen to protect against subsequent sunburn or suntan. Preferably more than one sunscreen is employed to provide for protection over a wide UV spectrum. The active ingredients of the composition can be provided for use as a cream, lotion, aerosol spray or in other classical forms by employing an appropriate vehicle. |
