Nail gun is for single cycle and for repeater operation and has automatic withdrawal to the end position and low air pressure. There is a drive stroke; a claw that returns the hammer; and a differential piston with the smaller piston surface in contact with the compressed air and the larger surface connected via a shut off valve with a return air reservoir. The shut off valve (40) also acts as a back pressure valve controlling the air pressure from the return air reservoir (36) to the control sleeve (58) of the auxiliary valve (30). A ventilation channel is provided for the control sleeve (58) when the ram (70) is in the withdrawn position. An additional facility of the combined shut off and back pressure valve is to set the connecting channel (38) in the permanently open or permanently closed position.
