<p>A rotary tyre cutting device has knives of metal plate, held by a circular flat hub with a conical, upwards inclined outer edge, the flat ends of the blades being clamped between a supporting underplate and a cover plate, concentrically to the axis of rotation of the device. The bottom plate has a concentrically machined flat outer surface and a conical outer edge against which the upturned end of the knives rests. Complementary surfaces on the top plate clamp the knives in place and allow the teeth of the knives to stand freely, projecting outwards at slight angle to the horizontal. On the upper surface of the top plate there is continuous surface machined as a concavity to leace the teeth of the knives free. Between the under plate and a bottom plate rows of polishing knives with circumferential teeth are held, and these clean up the surface of the tyre cut by the knives above, as the tyre and the trimmer rotate. Removes the old tread without generating dust and smoke from which the operator has to be protected. The machine has a long working life, and can be cheaply produced. The old rubber is cut off in strips and pieces, prodn. of smoke and dust being reduced by 50-80%.</p> |
