<p>The lightweight, compact linear induction drive has two sets of laminations (9, 10) enclosed by DC coils (8) and provided with multi phase drive coils (17, 18). The ends of the laminations are open and are bridged by fixed pole pieces (2, 3) forming part of the fixed track, and completing the magnetic circuits. The fixed parts of the system provide a great weight reduction while the design of the drive results in a reduction eddy currents etc. as well as smaller control currents.</p> |
