<p>The connection is esp. suitable for pipe lines, which are subjected to high pressure strains or construction forces. It contains a self-clamping section, to prevent the pipe ends from being pulled out of the connection unit. It also has a housing, and seals, to seal the pipes against each other. The compression force of the seals onto the pipe lines to be connected, and onto the connection elements, is applied by a sleeve, and a worm, supported in bearings in the housing. The axial position of the worm is maintained during tensioning, and the sleeve revolves about its axis, in order to move two compression elements in opposite directions against the seals. At least one of the seals guarantees a sealed separation between the outside medium and the tensioning actuator for the seals.</p> |
