<p>1386981 Formamidines CIBA-GEIGY AG 17 Feb 1972 [18 Feb 1971 4 Jan 1972] 7454/72 Addition to 1386301 Heading C2C The invention relates to formamidines of the general formula in which R represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group containing maximally 4 carbon atoms and being optionally substituted by a hydroxy group; wherein each of the rings A and B may optionally be substituted by one or more members selected from fluorine, chlorine, bromine and iodine atoms, alkyl, alkoxy and alkylamino groups each containing maximally 4 carbon atoms and di-alkyl-amino groups containing maximally 4 carbon atoms per alkyl moiety; and wherein the ring B may optionally be further substituted by a methylenedioxy group, or an acid addition salt thereof. Compounds may be prepared by (1) reacting the corresponding compound of Formula II with a compound of Formula III in the presence of thionyl chloride, phosgene, phosphorus oxychloride, phosphorus trichloride, phosphorus pentachloride, dimethyl sulphate or paratoluene sulphonyl chloride; or (2) heating the corresponding compound of Formula IV with a compound of Formula V or (3) heating the corresponding compounds of Formula VI wherein ALK represents an alkyl group containing maximally four carbon atoms with a compound of Formula VII and (4) reacting the corresponding compounds of Formula VII with a compound of Formula VIII or (5) reacting the corresponding compound of Formula IX with a compound of Formula X wherein Hal represents a halogen atom and, when required converting the compound of Formula I thus obtained into the acid addition salt thereof. Many examples are given. The compounds have pesticidal properties.</p> |
